[Original form] Long-leaved Elaeagnus is an evergreen shrub, 1-3m tall. Branches spreading, often with sturdy spines; young branches densely covered with rusty or brown scales. Leaves are alternate; petiole is 4-8mm long; leaf blade is papery or nearly leathery, narrowly oblong, 3-9cm long, 1-3cm wide, acuminate or slightly obtuse at apex, cuneate or broad cuneate at base, slightly curled at margin, covered with brown scales when young, falling off when mature, silvery white beneath. Densely covered with silvery white and scattered with a few brown scales. The flowers are silvery white with brown scales. Often 5-7 flowers are clustered in umbels on short branches in the leaf axils. Each flower has a bract at the base, which falls off early. The pedicel is 1-5mm long. The calyx tube is cylindrical or funnel-shaped, 4-7mm long, with 4 lobes, ovate-triangular, 2-3mm long. There are 4 stamens, with extremely short filaments, 0.6mm long, and anthers oblong. The style is erect, curved at the apex, and densely covered with pale white stellate pubescence. The fruit is short and oblong, 9-10mm long, covered with silvery white scales when young, red when ripe, and the fruit stalk is 4-6mm long. The flowering period is October-November, and the fruiting period is April of the following year.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in hillside thickets or beside ditches at an altitude of 500-1600m.
