[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of the Apocynaceae plant Tomentosa.

【Original form】 Woody vine. Branchlets cylindrical; internodes 3-18cm long; few glands in the axilla and intraaxilla, dark purple, linear-subulate, about 1mm long. Leaves are opposite; petiole is 1-3cm long with grooves on it; leaf blade is papery, broadly obovate or elliptic-oblong, 5-15cm long, 2-10.5cm wide, with sharp tip or small tip, base contracted into ear shape, leaf surface densely covered with coarse hairs. The inflorescence is axillary, dichotomous, nearly corymbose, with 15-20 flowers; bracts and bracteoles are lanceolate, obtuse, about 10mm long and 3mm wide; the flowers are 5-something; there are about 50 glands on the inner surface of the calyx base, and the lobes are oblong, up to 9mm long and about 3mm wide; the corolla is red, nearly bell-shaped, swollen at the top, up to 2.2cm long, and the lobes are ovate; the stamens are born in the middle of the corolla tube, the filaments are extremely short, the anthers are arrow-shaped or narrowly pointed, acute, up to 3mm long; the disk is annular, with 5 fine round teeth at the end; the ovary is glabrous, the style is filiform, the stigma is disc-shaped, and the end is rod-shaped and hairy. There are two follicles growing side by side, which are oval, 8-10cm long and 12-15mm in diameter; the exocarp is woody, wrinkled, and covered with rusty soft hairs, while the endocarp is glossy. The seeds are oval, up to 10mm long and about 3mm wide; the seed hairs are yellow silky, arranged in whorls, and up to 4cm long. The flowering period is from April to October, and the fruiting period is from September to January of the following year.
