[Original form] Perennial creeping herb, 10-45m high. The whole plant is densely covered with short soft hairs. The stolons are smooth and hairless, with roots growing at the nodes. Stem erect or procumbent at base, unbranched. Leaves are alternate; petioles are 4-12cm long and pubescent; stipules are membranous with purple spots; leaf blades are round-reniform or cordate-reniform, 2-4cm long, 3.5-7cm wide, 5-7 deeply lobed, the middle lobe is broadly ovate or obovate, the lobe margins are compound serrate, and both sides are coarsely pubescent. The peduncle is solitary at the upper part of the stem, opposite the leaves and longer than the petiole; the bracts are membranous and densely grown at the base of the pedicel; the inflorescence is umbel; the pedicel is smooth; the petals are ovate with purple-red spots; the style is rolled inward when young and recurved outward when the fruit is ripe. The fruit is purple-red and turns purple-black when ripe. Flowering and fruiting period is July-August.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown under bamboo forests or moist grasslands at an altitude of 1250-1780m.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and dampness; detoxifies and promotes blood circulation. It is used for damp-heat jaundice, dysentery, stranguria, stone forest, mouth sores, ear abscesses, and traumatic injuries.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 6-15g. For external use: Apply appropriate amount to the affected area.
