[Alias] Guoganglong (Essentials of Raw Medicinal Herbs), Wulangteng (Chinese Tree Taxonomy), Wuteng, Chuanbi Teng (Guangxi Chinese Veterinary Medicinal Plants), Yanziwei (Nanning City Pharmacopoeia), Zhuticha, Sheep's Hoof (Guangxi Chinese Herbal Medicine), Huangkaikou, Ziyanteng, Wuli Mushroom, Shuangmuxie (Zhejiang Folk Commonly Used Herbs), Yenjiaocao, Gandachui, Jiuniuzao, Wuhuaxuetong; Majiaoteng (Hunan Pharmacopoeia), Feiyangteng, Sheep's Hoof Wind (Guangxi Medicinal Plant List).

[Source] It is the stem of the leguminous plant Elaeagnus fasciata . It can be harvested at any time, sliced ​​and dried after harvesting.

[Original form] Evergreen climbing vine, 2 to 7 meters high. Young branches are light yellow, densely covered with rusty yellow lenticels. The young branches, inflorescences and backs of leaves are all covered with short hairs. The tendrils are 2 opposite or 1. Simple leaves are alternate, ovate, rectangular or heart-shaped, 5-9 cm long, 2.5-5 cm wide, semi-leathery, divided at the front end, or concave, entire, base rounded or slightly concave or auricle-shaped; petiole 22-40 mm long, swollen at both ends; stipules needle-shaped, early-falling, and bald. Inflorescence is terminal or axillary; calyx is 5-lobed, long triangular, with short hairs on the surface; petals are 5, white, free; stamens are 10, 3 of which are relatively sturdy; anthers are 2-chambered, longitudinally fissured, T-shaped; pistil is 1, covered with very short hairs, and style is beak-shaped. The surface of the pod has fine reticular patterns and cracks when ripe. The seeds are black and oblate. Flowering period is from September to October. The fruiting period is from January to February of the following year (Guangxi).

[Habitat distribution] It grows by ditches, valleys, riversides, under sparse woods or in shrubs. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Taiwan, Zhejiang, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Guizhou and other places.

[Chemical composition] The root and stem bark contain 20.76% tannin.

[Properties and flavors] "Nanning Pharmacopoeia": "bitter, pungent, neutral, non-toxic."

【Functions and indications】 "Nanning Pharmacopoeia": "Dispel wind, remove blood stasis, relieve pain. Treat rheumatic bone pain, and fracture setting."

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 2-5 qian (1-2 liang for fresh use).

[Additional prescription] For treating gastric and duodenal ulcers: 1-2 liang of Jiulongteng and 2-3 qian of Liangmianzhen. Decoction in water, one dose per day, divided into two to three times. (Prescriptions of New Chinese Herbal Medicine Treatment Methods)
