Leaves opposite; petiole 1-1.4cm long, densely covered with white adnate short soft hairs, with shallow grooves on the upper side and rounded beneath; leaves leathery or thin leathery, oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 5.5-10cm long, 2-3.4cm wide, with acute apex, cuneate base, covered with white short soft hairs on both sides, extremely dense beneath, midrib slightly obvious above, convex beneath, with pits often in the vein axils. The head inflorescence is nearly spherical, composed of about 100 flowers, about 1.2 cm in diameter, with 4 white petal-like bracts, which are obovate, pointed at the apex, 3-4 cm long and 2-3 cm wide; the calyx is tubular, 4-lobed, and the lobes are round and blunt; there are 4 petals, yellow; there are 4 stamens; the disk is annular, slightly 4-lobed; the ovary is inferior, 2-chambered. The infructescence is oblate and purple-red when ripe; the fruit stalk is thick and 4-7cm long. Flowering period: May-June, fruiting period: September-October
