【English name】 RADIX TINOSPORAE

[Other names] Trillium gracile [Guangdong, Guangxi], golden bull gall, bitter gall, golden lion vine, nine bull gall, nine lotus seeds, green bull gall, golden thread hanging gourd

[Source] This product is the dried tuberous root of Tinospora sagittata Oliv.) Gagnep. or Tinospora capillipes Gagnep., plants of the Menispermaceae family. Dig up in autumn and winter, remove the fibrous roots, wash and dry.

[Properties] This product is in irregular round block shape, 5 to 10 cm long and 3 to 6 cm in diameter. The surface is brown or light brown, rough and has deep wrinkles. It is hard and not easy to break. When broken, the cross section is pale yellowish white, and the duct bundles are arranged slightly radially and are darker in color. Odorless, bitter taste.

[Identification] Take bamipine hydrochloride and alkaloid hydrochloride reference substances, add methanol to each of them to make a solution containing 0.5 mg per 1 ml, which is used as the reference substance solution. According to the thin layer chromatography method (Appendix Ⅵ B), 4 μl of each of the two reference solutions and the test solution under [Content Determination] were taken and spotted on the same silica gel G thin layer plate. Benzene-ethyl acetate-methanol-isopropanol-concentrated ammonia test solution (12:6:3:3:1) was used as the developing agent. The plate was placed in a developing cylinder pre-saturated with ammonia vapor. After development, the plate was taken out, dried, and examined under ultraviolet light (365 nm). In the test sample chromatogram, a fluorescent spot of the same color appears at the corresponding position in the reference sample chromatogram.

【Usage and Dosage】 3~9g. For external use, grind into powder and blow into throat or grind with vinegar and apply to affected area.

【Storage】 Store in a dry place to prevent moth damage.
