【Original form】Kiwi vine. Young branches are red, with dense gray-brown soft hairs on the petioles, while old branches are glabrous; the pith is large, white, and flaky. Simple leaves are alternate; petioles are up to 6 cm long; leaf blades are papery, round, ovate or obovate, 5-17 cm long, with pointed, slightly concave or truncate apex, base broadly cuneate to cordate, with spiny teeth on the margins, dark green above with only veins hairy, grayish white below, densely covered with grayish-brown stellate hairs. Flowers are solitary or several are clustered in leaf axils; unisexual flowers, dioecious or unisexual and bisexual flowers coexist; sepals are 5, rarely 4, slightly fused at the base, and covered with light brown hairs on the pedicels; petals are 5, rarely 4, or as many as 6-7, milky white when just opened, then turn yellow; stamens are numerous, anthers are dorsifixed; ovary is superior, multi-chambered, and styles are filiform and numerous. The berries are oval or oblong, 3-5cm long, densely covered with brown hairs, and have a fragrance. The seeds are small and black. The flowering period is June-July, and the fruit ripening period is August-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows in mountain forests or bushes, often around other objects.

[Pharmacological action] Intraperitoneal injection of 250 mg/kg of polysaccharide complex extracted from water-soaked and alcohol-extracted Actinidia chinensis stems for 2 consecutive weeks can prolong the life of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC)-bearing mice by 26.9%. The ascorbic acid (AH2) contained in the xylem of kiwifruit can capture excess free radicals in the body, prevent the formation of nitrogen-nitrite compounds, promote the production of interferon, increase the levels of intracellular cAMP and cGMP, thereby enhancing the body's immunity and anti-cancer ability.
