【English name】 Asiatica Cinnamon Fern

[Other names] Oxhair Guangdong, Ziqin, Guanzhong

[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome of the ramet of Osmanthus fragrans, a plant of the Osmanthaceae family.

[Original form] Terrestrial fern, plant height 50-100cm. The rhizome is short and thick or has a thick and thick cylindrical main axis. Leaves are clustered and dimorphic; the vegetative petiole is straw color, light brown after drying, 20-40cm long; the leaf blade is deeply pinnate, oblong or narrowly elliptic, 35-60cm long, 12-24cm wide; there are 12-20 pairs of pinnae, nearly opposite, sessile, jointed at the base, linear-lanceolate or lanceolate, 8-12cm long, 1.2-2.4cm wide; there are 12-14 pairs of lobes, oblong, about 1cm long, about 4-6mm wide, entire, papery, with light brown villi when young; the midrib is obvious, and the lateral veins are dichotomously branched; the spore petiole is 24-40cm long; the leaf blade is deeply pinnate, 20-40cm long, 3-4cm wide; there are 12-14 pairs of pinnae, compressed into a linear shape, and the back is densely covered with dark brown sporangia.

【Habitat distribution】Ecological environment: grows in swamps or wet valleys.

[Chemical composition] The leaves contain high levels of starch and chlorophyll; the petioles contain white anthocyanin (leukoanthocyanine), lignin, fiber, pectin, sugar, catechuic acid, etc. It also contains amino acids: glutamic acid, phenylalanine, proline, alanine, etc.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; stops bleeding and kills parasites; acts as a diuretic. Mumps, influenza, dysentery, epistaxis, metrorrhagia, traumatic bleeding, hookworm disease, pinworm disease, and urinary incontinence

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 10-30g; or fry into charcoal and grind into powder, 3g each time, 2-3 times a day. For external use: Take appropriate amount, grind into powder and apply on skin.
