[Source] It is an ore of the carbonate mineral malachite .

[Original form] Monoclinic system, crystals are columnar or needle-shaped. It usually appears in stalactite, kidney-shaped, radial, filamentous, crusty, dense, earthy, and granular shapes. If it is a huge kidney-shaped body, it has a unique concentric layer structure. The colors include emerald green, grass green and dark green. The streak is light green. The crystal surface has a diamond luster, while the fibrous ones have a silky luster. Slightly transparent to opaque. Cleavage is complete along the axial plane. The fracture is jagged and the hardness is 3.4 to 4. Specific gravity: 3.9～4.1. Brittle in nature. When it comes into contact with hydrochloric acid, it dissolves into a green solution and produces bubbles. After adding ammonia, the solution turns blue. It is a secondary mineral of copper minerals. Produced in copper oxidation zone.

[Chemical composition] The main component is CuC0a·Cu(OH)2, theoretically containing CuO71.9%, CO2_19.9%, H208.2%, but it often contains impurities such as iron oxide, magnesium oxide, clay, sand, etc.
