[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of Salix babylonica, a plant of the Salicaceae family.

[Original form] Small shrub. The leaves are elliptical, 2-4.5cm long and 1-2.2cm wide, with a small tip and a rounded base. They are bright green above, with short yellow hairs along the veins on young leaves, and light green or whitish below, covered with light yellow rusty hairs. There are 6-8 pairs of lateral veins, which are raised and have obvious reticular glands; there are inconspicuous glandular teeth on the edge; the petiole is obviously hairy. Inflorescence opens at the same time as leaves, cylindrical, 2-6cm long, erect, oblique and slightly curved, with short peduncle and 2-4 leaflets; male inflorescence 3-5(-7)mm thick, 2 stamens, yellow anthers, free filaments, pubescent above the middle; bracts nearly circular; 1 dorsal gland and 1 ventral gland, short cylindrical; ovary ovate, densely covered with white pubescent, stigma 2 shallowly lobed; bracts nearly circular, scattered with long soft hairs on the outside, glabrous on the inside; 1 gland, ventral. Capsule ovate-oblong, up to 4mm long. Flowering period is late April.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows on roadsides, ditches and wet valleys.

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and dampness; promote blood circulation and regulate menstruation. Mainly used for rheumatic pain and irregular menstruation
