[Original form] Dzungarian iris is a perennial dense herb. The base of the plant is covered with brown remnants of old leaf sheaths. The fibrous roots are brown and of almost equal thickness above and below. The leaves are linear, shorter than the flower stalks during the flowering period, taller than the flower stalks during the fruiting period, up to 80 cm long and about 1 cm wide; with 3-5 longitudinal veins. The flower stalk is 25-50cm high, smooth, with 3-4 stem leaves; there are 3 bracts below the flowers, each containing 2 flowers; the pedicel is 4-5cm long; the flowers are blue-purple, up to 9cm in diameter, the outer perianth lobes are violin-shaped, the inner perianth lobes are obovate needle-shaped, erect; there are 3 stamens; the anthers are brown; the lobes at the top of the style branches are narrowly triangular, and the ovary is fusiform. The gourd fruit is triangular in shape and round in shape, up to 6 cm long and 2 cm in diameter, with a long tip and obvious reticular veins; the seeds are pear-shaped and brown in color. The flowering period is June-July, and the fruiting period is August-September.
