【Original form】 Evergreen tree or shrub, 5-15m high. The bark is dark gray or dark brown and smooth; the young branches are green, sparsely covered with brown short soft hairs; the old branches are glabrous and have many lenticels. Leaves opposite; petiole 0.8-1.2cm long; leaf blade thin leathery to thick leathery, elliptic to oblong, 6.2-13cm long, 3-6.3cm wide, apex shortly acuminate or shortly caudal, base broadly cuneate or obtuse, dark green and shiny above, light green beneath, covered with white and brown appressed short soft hairs on both sides when young, becoming glabrous with age and only having more or less scattered brown spots beneath, midrib distinct above, convex beneath. The head inflorescence is spherical, composed of about 50-70 flowers, with a diameter of about 1 cm; there are 4 white bracts; the peduncle is slender, 3.5-10 cm long; the flowers are small and fragrant; the calyx is tubular, green, and 4-lobed at the upper part; there are 4 petals, oblong, 2.2-2.4mm long, 1-1.2mm wide, and light yellow; there are 4 stamens; the disk is disc-shaped and slightly lobed; the ovary is inferior, and the stigma is small and light green. The infructescence is spherical, about 2.5 cm in diameter, yellow or red when ripe; the pedicel is green, 3.5-10 cm long, and nearly glabrous. The flowering period is May-June, and the fruiting period is November-December.
