【Original form】Plant height 30-90cm. The rhizome is long and horizontal, densely covered with brown, awl-shaped scales. Leaves are distal or sub-pinnate; petiole 15-50cm long, straw-colored, together with rachis and pinnae often covered with brown, linear, awl-shaped scales; leaf blade papery, triangular or ovate-triangular, 20-35cm long, about 20cm wide, apex narrowed to a caudate-like acuminate, tripinnate; pinnae 5-8 pairs, obliquely upward, petiolate, base of the largest pair, ovate-triangular, 15-20cm long, 7-10cm wide, with a pinnaceous pinnate on the lower side of the base, 8-10cm long, and the rest pairs gradually narrow upward; pinnae oblong, apex acute, base upper side slightly ear-like protrusions or separate ear pieces, margins shallowly lobed or with long thorn-like serrations, smooth above, below sparsely covered with brown scales along the midrib; venation pinnate, lateral veins 2-4 forked. The sporangium is round, dorsally located at the top of the veinlet, and located in the middle of the midrib and leaf edge; the sori is round and kidney-shaped and falls off early.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on hillsides, under forests, beside streams or on roadsides.

【Chemical composition】 The rhizome contains isoaspidin BB and AB.

[Pharmacological action] 1. Anti-fertility effect: Intraperitoneal injection of methanol extract of Auricularia fern at 0.8g/kg or 1.6-2.4g/kg on the 6th to 7th day, 10th to 11th day, and 15th to 16th day of gestation for 3 consecutive days can terminate the early, mid-term and late pregnancy of mice. After the embryo degenerates in the early and mid-pregnancy, it is gradually absorbed in the uterine cavity. In the late pregnancy, most of the fetuses will be expelled along with the intact placenta after the first or second dose of the drug. Histological examination showed that the uterine decidual tissue of the mice was damaged and the decidual reaction was inhibited. Its function is to act on the decidua and villi and initiate uterine contractions, resulting in necrosis of pregnancy tissue and expulsion from the uterine cavity.
