The petiole is 5-12 cm long; the leaves are palmately 3-foliolate, the middle leaflet is ovate or broadly lanceolate-ovate, 6-12 cm long, 2-7 cm wide, with acuminate or nearly caudate apex, cuneate base, coarsely serrated margins, sharp tooth tips, glabrous on both sides or sparsely pubescent along the veins below; the lateral leaflets are obliquely ovate, slightly smaller than the middle leaflet, turning red in autumn, with yellow-green flowers in summer and autumn, and the cymes often grow at the top of short branches or opposite to the leaves; the flowers are bisexual, 5-merous, sometimes 4-merous; the pedicel is shorter than the petiole; the calyx is shallowly saucer-shaped; the petals are short and round. The berries are spherical, dark brown with white frost when ripe. 1 to 2 seeds.

【Habitat distribution】 Climbing on walls or tree trunks. Distributed in provinces such as Hubei, Guangdong, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan.

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and dampness, activate collaterals, and disperse blood stasis. Used for rheumatic bone pain; used externally to treat fractures and bruises.
