[Original form] Evergreen shrub or small tree, about 8m high and 30cm in diameter. The bark is brown or gray-black, rough, the branches are red or gray-black, with obvious leaf scars, initially covered with short soft hairs, then become glabrous. Leaves are often clustered at the top of branches, or with very short petioles; leaf blades are thick, fleshy, green, yellow-brown when dry, spoon-shaped or narrowly obovate, 5.7cm-6.8cm long, obtuse or slightly concave at the apex, and gradually pointed at the base. The racemes are axillary, and the inflorescence is 2-6cm long; the peduncle is flattened, with 6-12 flowers; there are 2 bracteoles, which are scale-like and triangular, attached to the base of the calyx tube and persistent; the calyx tube extends above the ovary, with a narrow base, gradually widening and becoming bell-shaped or oblong, about 5mm long and 3mm wide, with 5 short, triangular teeth, 1-2mm long; there are 5 petals, which are white, small and fragrant, oblong, 4.5-5mm long and 1.5mm wide, and alternate with the calyx teeth; there are 10 or 5 stamens, inserted in the calyx tube, about the same length as the petals, and the filaments are 4-5mm long. The fruit is brown-black when ripe, woody, hard, ovate to fusiform, 1.4-2cm long, 5-8mm in diameter, with one persistent bracteole on each side, linear on the upper part, smooth on the lower part, slightly flattened on one side, with 2 or 3 ridges, and crowned with a calyx limb in the center; one seed, cylindrical, with a brown seed coat. The flowering and fruiting period is from December to March of the following year.
