Blogger picked "snow lotus" and took a video to show off? Local response!

"This is the Tianshan Snow Lotus, the legendary snow lotus." Recently, outdoor anchor "Xiao Feng is a bit Lang" released a video. In the video, he was holding two white flowers in his hands, showing and explaining them.

The video sparked heated discussions online, with some saying that "Xiao Feng is a bit waver" was suspected of picking national second-level protected plants, and that picking them at will is illegal.

The video shows that "Xiao Feng Dian Lang" holds two white flowers in his hands and explains to the camera that they are "Tianshan Snow Lotus", which can only grow on cliffs above 5,000 meters above sea level. At that time, he was crossing the Langmala Pass in Gamagou on the east slope of Mount Everest, at an altitude of 5,300 meters.

On November 2, a search revealed that the account of "Xiao Feng is a bit Lang" has been displayed as a private account, and has been banned from posting works due to violating relevant regulations. It will be unblocked on November 9.

On November 2, a staff member of the Wildlife and Wetland Resources Management Office of the Forestry Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region responded that they have not seen the relevant video yet. Tianshan Snow Lotus is a national protected plant. If there is indeed any act of picking, there will be corresponding punishment. According to the Dingjie County Public Security Bureau in Shigatse, after verification, the place where the incident occurred is under the jurisdiction of Dingri County.

Similar incidents have occurred before

On August 11, 2022, a netizen posted on Weibo that an anchor with the ID "Siberian Wolf" was suspected of picking the national second-level protected plant "Jellyfish Snow Rabbit".

"Qinghai-Tibet Snow Lotus, picked in its original ecology at an altitude of over 5,000 meters..." In the video, a male anchor wearing gloves pulled a plant up by its roots from a crevice in a rock and showed it to the camera.

On the same day, the official Weibo account of the Qinghai Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism commented that the information had been forwarded to the relevant departments for processing. Subsequently, the whistleblower also posted a message saying that the police had intervened in the investigation and the anchor's account had been banned.

In September 2020, in the variety show "Extreme Challenge", many guests went to the plateau to pick snow lotus. Some netizens pointed out that the "snow lotus" they picked was the national second-level rare plant jellyfish snow rabbit.

Subsequently, the program team issued an apology statement saying that no actual picking of rare plants occurred, but the program produced certain negative impacts after it was broadcast and failed to play a role in promoting the regulations on the protection of rare plants.

In fact, both the snow lotus and the jellyfish snow rabbit are national key protected plants. The Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China stipulates:

Whoever, in violation of State regulations, illegally cuts down or destroys precious trees or other plants under State key protection, or illegally purchases, transports, processes or sells precious trees or other plants under State key protection, or the products thereof, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention or public surveillance, and shall also be fined; if the circumstances are serious, he shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than seven years, and shall also be fined.
