[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole plant of Clematis affine leaf, a plant of the Ranunculaceae family.

[Original form] Sand-leaved Clematis, a woody vine. The branches have distinct grooves. Trifoliate leaves; leaflets ovate or ovate-oblong, 3-9cm wide and 2-5cm, with acute or acuminate apex, rounded or cuneate base, entire margin, and densely wrinkled on both sides. The paniculate cymes are axillary or terminal, with many flowers; usually without persistent bud scales; the bracts are small and subulate; there are 4 sepals, which are white, oblong or lanceolate, 0.7-1.2cm long, with pubescent hairs on the outer margins and glabrous on the inside; the stamens are glabrous. Achenes are sickle-shaped narrowly ovate or narrowly obovate, about 4.5 mm long, pubescent, with persistent styles up to 2.5 cm long. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is from August to October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: in bushes in forests and climbing on trees.

[Properties] Identification of properties: The roots are slender and cylindrical, with several roots clustered on irregular rhizomes, 5-10 cm long; the surface is dark brown and the cross section is white. . The stems are segmented or twined, cylindrical, with longitudinal ridges, and are green-brown or withered green. Leaves are opposite, trifoliate, complete leaflets are ovate-oblong, the apical leaflets are slightly larger, 3-9cm long, 2-5cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, broadly cuneate or rounded at the base, entire, with dense wrinkles on both sides; brittle and easily broken. Inflorescence sometimes visible. It has a faint smell and tastes slightly bitter and spicy.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter; pungent; cold

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and promotes diuresis; unblocks blood circulation and activates collaterals. It is used to treat edema, urinary incontinence, rheumatic pain, milk blockage, sores, carbuncle and furuncle.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 15-30g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
