[Original morphology] Perennial herb, procumbent or spreading, up to 60 cm long. Leaves solitary or with 3 leaflets; stipules ovate-triangular, subulate at the top; terminal leaflets round or elliptic, 2.5-6 cm long, apex rounded or obtuse with a small acute tip; lateral leaflets smaller, slightly rough above, pubescent beneath; racemes terminal, densely cylindrical, ovate to oblong, 3-6 cm long, 1.5-2 cm thick, pubescent; bracts broadly ovate, 8-10 mm long, densely pubescent; pedicel shorter than calyx, sparsely pubescent; calyx 5-6 mm long, 2 upper teeth short, 3 lower teeth elongated, bristle-like, sparsely pubescent; corolla butterfly-shaped, lavender, about 6 mm long, standard petal broad, wing petal attached to keel; 2 stamens, the upper one separate; 1 pistil, style linear, incurved. The pods are small, with 1 or 2 nodes; the nodes are oval, about 2.5 mm long, swollen, and dark brown. Flowering period is October.

[Habitat distribution] Growing in wilderness and grassland. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi and other places. Produced in Guangdong.

[Properties] The dried stem has been cut off, about 20 to 30 cm long, about 0.2 to 0.4 cm thick, gray-brown to gray-green; the leaves are leathery, gray-green, the veins on the back are slightly prominent, and covered with yellow-brown hairs; the inflorescences on the branches are dense, the corolla is shrunken, and most of them fall off; the pods are oval, dark brown and shiny, with reticular patterns, thin skin, and do not crack, containing one light yellow seed. It is best to use dry ones without sand or impurities.

[Pharmacological action] The hot water extract of the stems and leaves has a contraction effect on the uterus of pregnant or non-pregnant rats, and also has this effect on the uterus of guinea pigs, rabbits and humans. It has no effect on the dog's blood pressure or breathing.
