[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of Parthenocissus tricuspidata of the grape family.

[Original form] Sichuan and Hubei creeper is a woody vine. Branchlets quadrangular, often red when young, glabrous or pubescent. Tendrils are mostly branched, opposite leaves, with suckers at the ends. The leaves are palmately compound, with a petiole 4-5cm long, often purple-red; there are 5 leaflets, obovate or elliptical; the central leaflet is 5-8cm long, 2-3cm wide, with an acute tip, sometimes obtuse tip, and a cuneate base; the leaflets on both sides are smaller, the outer leaflet is about 2cm long, 1.2cm wide, slightly oblique, and all have petioles, green on the upper side, often reddish purple on the lower side, both sides are green in the sunny side, and there are 4-6 teeth on the upper part of the edge. The flowers are bisexual, with cymes terminal or opposite to the leaves, 2-10 cm long; the flowers are green, with bracts at the base of the pedicels; the calyx is disc-shaped, entire; there are 5 petals; 5 stamens, about 2 mm long, opposite to the petals; the ovary is conical, with an inconspicuous disk; the berries are spherical, 6-8 mm in diameter, and purple-black when ripe. 2-4 seeds. The flowering period is from June to July, and the fruiting period is from July to October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on hillside roadsides, stone walls or bushes at an altitude of about 700m.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 9-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
