[Original form] Densely-flowered Polygala shrub, 0.5-2m tall. Young branches thin, slightly procumbent hairs. Simple leaves are alternate; petioles are thin, 2-2.5cm long, glabrous or with short hairs; leaves are membranous to thin papery, linear-lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, 7-12cm long, 1.5-4cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, gradually narrowed to cuneate at the base, entire, green, sparsely covered with white short stiff hairs, light green or pale on the back, with 6-7 pairs of lateral veins. Flowers bisexual, racemes short, densely growing at branch tops or axillary, up to 6cm long, extending to 10cm when fruiting; flowers densely packed, with triangular bracts; 5 sepals, falling off after anthesis, 3 outer ones small, with ciliate margins, 1 middle one folded left and right, not sac-shaped, the other 2 ovate, the inner 2 large, petal-shaped, obovate, 16-19mm long; 3 petals, white with purple to pink, very transparent, lateral petals oblong, 20-25mm long, less than 3/4 fused with keel, apex truncated to rounded, keel helmet-shaped, with 2 bundles of cockscomb-shaped appendages; 8 stamens, 20-22mm long, less than 3/4 fused into sheath, and attached to keel, anther ovate, apical pore dehiscent, with longitudinal septum in the middle, like 2 chambers; ovary obovate, winged, with annular disk at base, style thin, 17-18mm long, apex 2-lobed. The capsule is square-round, green with purple, 8-9mm in diameter, with broad wings, prominent transverse veins, and a ring-shaped scar at the base where the disk and perianth fell off. The seeds are black, oval, with tubercle-like protrusions and white soft hairs, and a light yellow-brown, translucent wing-like caruncle near the hilum. The flowering period is from December to April of the following year, and the fruiting period is from March to June.
