The positioning accuracy of the Beidou system can reach 2 to 3 meters in some areas

Ran Chengqi, Director of the China Satellite Navigation System Management Office and spokesperson for the BeiDou Satellite Navigation System, introduced that the current BeiDou-3 system, also known as the BeiDou Global System, is already a world-class satellite navigation system . Innovative designs have been made in terms of constellation configuration, technical system and service functions. The technical system, signal design and technical level are the most advanced in the world, and the functions are also very powerful. In the new era, China's BeiDou services are high-quality and diverse, with normalized real-time monitoring on a global scale. The service indicator promised by the BeiDou system to the outside world is 10-meter positioning accuracy. Today, it has achieved 5 meters or even better, and can reach 2 to 3 meters positioning accuracy in some local areas. The timing accuracy promised to the outside world is 20 nanoseconds, and now it can provide 10 nanosecond timing accuracy.

Beidou high-precision positioning service* has entered the mass mobile phone

Ran Chengqi introduced that in the first half of 2022, among the smartphones that applied for network access in China, 128 models supported Beidou positioning, with shipments exceeding 130 million units, accounting for more than 98% of the total shipments in the first half of the year. In mobile map navigation, the average daily usage of Beidou positioning services has exceeded 100 billion times . In particular, Beidou's high-precision positioning service has entered mass mobile phones, and lane-level navigation applications have been launched in eight cities including Shenzhen, Chongqing, and Tianjin. The world's first mobile phone that supports Beidou-3 regional short message communication services has been officially released. Users can send text messages via Beidou satellites without changing cards, numbers, or adding peripherals.

All the components of BeiDou-3 satellites in orbit are made in China

Ran Chengqi introduced that the 30 BeiDou-3 satellites in orbit are in good operating condition. All of the more than 300 types and millions of components on the satellite are domestically produced and have excellent performance. Actual measurements show that the global positioning accuracy is better than 5 meters, and the performance in the Asia-Pacific region is even better. The service performance is better than the design indicators in all aspects. Since the BeiDou-3 was put into operation, its service performance has been world-class.
