【Original form】 Climbing herbaceous vine. The whole plant is covered with yellow-white long soft hairs. The root is tuberous, the stem is slightly sturdy, and has ridges and grooves. The petiole is slightly thick, 2-6cm long; the leaf blade is broadly ovate-cordate, 5-8cm long, 4-9cm wide, with an acute or short acuminate apex, a cordate base, a shallowly wavy margin, rough on both sides, and long stiff hairs on the veins. Tendrils slender, villous, simple. Flowers are dioecious; male flowers are solitary or clustered at the upper end of short branches in a pseudoraceme, sometimes 2-3 flowers on a pedicel, and the pedicels are slender; the calyx tube is very short, nearly radial, with lobes lanceolate, reflexed outwards, with 3 veins, and both sides are covered with long soft hairs; the corolla is yellow, the lobes are oblong, 2-2.5cm long, 0.8-1.2cm wide, with 5 veins, reflexed outwards at the upper part, covered with short soft hairs on the outside, and with short verrucous glandular dots on the inside; there are 5 stamens, 1 of which is separate, and the other 4 are slightly close to each other, with a reduced hemispherical ovary; female flowers are solitary, with thin pedicels; calyx and corolla are the same as male flowers; there are 5 reduced stamens, the ovary is oblong, densely covered with long soft hairs, the style is glabrous, forked into 3 at 3-4mm, the stigma is enlarged, kidney-shaped, and 2-lobed. The fruit is long ovate-oblong, 4-5cm long and 2.8cm in diameter, with a remnant stylopodium at the tip and slightly narrowed at the base. The surface is orange-yellow or reddish-brown, shiny, covered with soft hairs, and has 10 obvious longitudinal lines. The seeds are oval, black, smooth and hairless, 44.5mm long, 2.5-3mm wide, and 1.5mm thick. The flowering period is June-August, and the fruiting period is August-October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on hillsides, river valleys and forest edges at an altitude of 1300-1800m.
