[Original form] Pedaloe vera is a perennial herb, 10-80cm tall. The rhizome is slightly branched, with several clustered flower stems and sterile stems. The stem is erect, slightly woody at the base, thinly hairy above, and soon bald below, with internodes 1-2 cm long, or up to 4 cm long at the upper end. The leaves are narrowly lanceolate, ovate-lanceolate or the lower leaves are obovate-lanceolate, 2.5-5.5cm long, 0.5-1.3cm wide, with an acute base, no sheath, pointed apex, long pointed valgus, flat or slightly wavy margins, sparse spider-like hairs or no hairs on the upper side, and a thin layer of dense silvery or grayish white hairs on the lower side. There are many bracts, which are often shorter than the leaves on the upper part of the stem, oval or oblong, covered with dense grayish white hairs on both sides or spider-like hairs on the upper side, arranged into sparse bract groups with a diameter of up to 4 cm, or with long peduncles and spread out into compound bract groups with a diameter of up to 10 cm. The head inflorescence is 3.5-4.5mm in diameter, numerous and relatively sparse; the involucre is campanulate or hemispherical, covered with dense white or grayish white hairs, about 4mm long; the involucral bracts are 3-layered, obtuse at the apex, glabrous, and exposed above the hairs; the florets are heteromorphic or dioecious; the corolla is about 3mm long; the corolla of male flowers is narrowly funnel-shaped, with lanceolate lobes; the corolla of female flowers is tubular; the pappus is white, slightly lighter red at the base; the male corolla hairs are slightly thick and serrated; the female corolla hairs are filamentous and serrated at the bottom; the sterile ovary is hairy or glabrous. Achenes often have nipple-like projections or short, coarse hairs. The flowering period is from June to September, and the fruiting period is from September to October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in hillside thickets, grass slopes and under forests at an altitude of 1000-3000m.
