【English name】 PERICARPIUM CITRI RETICULATAE VIRIDE

[Alias] Four-flowered green peel, green peel, green peel

[Source] This product is the dried young or immature fruit peel of the Rutaceae plant Citrus reticulata Blanco and its cultivated varieties. From May to June, the fallen young fruits are collected and dried in the sun, which are commonly known as "ge qingpi" or "qingpizi". From July to August, the immature fruits are harvested, cut vertically into four petals to the base on the peel, the pulp petals are removed, and the fruits are dried in the sun, which are commonly known as "sihua qingpi".

[Properties] Four-flowered green peel: The peel is divided into 4 lobes, which are oblong, 4 to 6 cm long and 0.1 to 0.2 cm thick. The outer surface is gray-green or black-green, densely covered with numerous oil chambers; the inner surface is off-white or yellowish-white, rough, with small yellowish-white or yellowish-brown veins. It is slightly hard and easy to break, with 1 to 2 rows of oil chambers on the outer edge of the cross section. It has a fragrant smell and tastes bitter and spicy.

[Identification] (1) The powder of this product is gray-green or light gray-brown. The mesocarp has numerous parenchyma tissues, the cells are irregular in shape, the walls are slightly thickened, and some are in the shape of beads. The epidermal cells of the pericarp are polygonal or quadrate in surface view, with thickened anticlinal walls, oblong stomata with a diameter of 20-28μm, and 5-7 accessory cells; covered with a cuticle in side view, with slightly thickened radial walls towards the outside. Calcium oxalate prismatic crystals exist in the thin-walled cells near the epidermis and are polyhedral, rhombic or square in shape, with a diameter of 8 to 28 μm and a length of 24 to 32 μm. Hesperidin crystals are brown-yellow in color and appear as semicircular, quasi-circular or amorphous clumps. The threaded and reticulated catheters are small.

[Preparation] Green peel : remove impurities, wash, soak, cut into thick slices or strips, and dry in the sun.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter, pungent, warm.

[entry into meridians] Enter the liver, gallbladder and stomach meridians.

【Functions and indications】 Soothes the liver and relieves qi, eliminates accumulation and resolves stagnation. Used for chest and flank distension and pain, hernia, breast nodule, mastitis, and abdominal pain caused by food accumulation.

【Usage and Dosage】 3~9g.
