[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of Syzygium wilfordii, a plant of the Myrtaceae family.

[Original form] Four-cornered sycamore tree, 20m high. The young branches are thick, quadrangular, and have obvious edges. Leaves are opposite; petioles are 1-1.6cm long and sturdy; leaf blades are leathery, elliptical or obovate, 12-18cm long, 6-8cm wide, with rounded or obtuse apex and a pointed tip about 1cm long, base broadly cuneate or rounded, dark brown and dull above when dry, slightly lighter below; pinnate veins, 9-13 pairs of lateral veins. The cymes form panicles, grow on leafless branches, and are 3-5 cm long; there is no pedicel; the buds are 6-7 mm long; the calyx tube is short, inverted conical, and the calyx teeth are blunt and short; the petals are fused into a cap; the stamens are numerous, 3 mm long, and the anthers are T-shaped and longitudinally fissured; the ovary is inferior. The berries are spherical, about 1 cm in diameter. Flowering period is July-August.

【Functions and indications】Dispel wind and dampness; reduce swelling and relieve pain. Mainly used for rheumatism, arthralgia, swelling and pain caused by falls

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 6-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount, decoct in water for washing or mash and apply.
