[Source] Medicinal material source: bark and root bark of Ulmus pumila of the Ulmus family.

[Original form] Deciduous small tree or shrub. Young branches are brown, densely covered with white short hairs, and have well-developed corky wings. Leaves are alternate; petioles are 5-10mm long and hairy; stipules fall off early; leaf blades are obovate, 4-10cm long, 2-6cm wide, with pointed apex and slightly oblique base, covered with short stiff hairs on the upper side, rough, or with hairs falling off and relatively smooth, smooth and hairless on the lower side, with clusters of hairs in the vein axils, double serrated edges, and 8-16 pairs of lateral veins. The flowers bloom before the leaves, clustered in the leaf axils of last year's branches, and are light pink; the perianth is shallowly lobed in 4 parts; there are 4 stamens, the filaments are longer than the perianth, and the anthers are purple-red; the ovary is green, flat, 1-chambered, and has 2 styles that are hairy. The samaras are elliptical-obovate, 10-15mm long and 7-10mm wide. The seeds are located near the notch at the top, green at first and then turn light brown.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows on the edge of forests, roadsides, and in sunny places.

【Functions and indications】 Expel parasites and eliminate accumulation; eliminate phlegm and promote diuresis. Mainly used for infantile malnutrition, bone tumor, and bone tuberculosis
