Gastrodia elata for treating neurasthenia

Gastrodia elata for treating neurasthenia

Gastrodia elata is a common traditional Chinese medicine, which has anti-epileptic, analgesic, and neurasthenia-treating effects. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that if a patient suffers from neurasthenia, Gastrodia elata can be used for treatment. So how can we use Gastrodia elata to treat neurasthenia? It is generally believed that better therapeutic effects can be achieved by decocting Tianchuang, taking 1-1.5 grams each time.

In order to improve the treatment of neurasthenia and depression or to cure them, American scientist Dr. Brown (A. Brown Roxby M.D.) made great efforts in the 1990s to study and hope to find a substance that can effectively improve the atrophy of the hippocampus structure. The team led by him conducted thousands of experiments, screened more than 1,000 kinds of medicinal plants, and finally extracted effective ingredients from Gastrodia elata, a Chinese medicinal plant.

This ingredient activates, differentiates and accelerates neural stem cells, thereby gradually restoring the function of the hippocampus. It can effectively improve the original symptoms of lethargy, dullness, and decreased mobility in a short period of time. Dr. Brown named this extracted special ingredient "Depenzyme TM". After clinical trials on humans, satisfactory results were also achieved.

Gastrodia elata is rich in gastrodin, vanillin, protein, amino acids and trace elements. It is pungent, warm, non-toxic, and has the effects of anti-epileptic, anti-palpitation, anti-rheumatic, sedative, antispasmodic, analgesic, tonic, calming the liver and calming wind. Functions and indications: soothes the liver, relieves wind and stops convulsions. Used for headache, dizziness, limb numbness, epilepsy, convulsions, and tetanus. Dizziness, neurasthenia, wind-cold-dampness arthritis, infantile convulsions, etc. Clinical applications have shown that it has significant therapeutic effects on vascular neurotic headaches, sequelae of concussion, etc.

The effects of Gastrodia elata are to extinguish wind and stop convulsions, calm liver yang, and dispel wind and dredge meridians. Medicine used to treat dizziness and headache. Decoction: 3~9g or grind into powder and take with water: 1~1.5g each time. It is not ideal to treat a disease with a single Chinese medicine. It needs to be treated specifically based on syndrome differentiation and treatment.
