【Original morphology】 Plant height 20-40cm. The rhizome is short and erect, and together with the base of the petiole, is densely covered with lanceolate scales that are purple-brown in the middle and brown at the edges. Leaves are clustered; petiole is 10-22cm long, brown and shiny; leaf blade is herbaceous, glabrous, broadly lanceolate, 12-26cm long, 3-6cm wide, obtuse at apex, nearly truncate or rounded at base, odd number, once pinnate; pinnae are 8-12 pairs, alternate, with slender petioles, oblique fan-shaped, oblique base, truncate or broad truncate, upper margin often shallowly lobed, each pair of pinnae below the middle is equal in size, 2-4cm long, 1-2.3cm wide at the middle, half-moon-shaped or semicircular kidney-shaped, terminal pinnae fan-shaped; rachis tip sometimes extends, roots on the ground, and reproduces asexually; leaf veins are radial, and veinlets are dichotomous. The sori are linear or oblong, dorsally borne on the upper edge lobes, with 2-6 on each pinna; the sori lid is linear, oblong or semicircular.
