[Original form] Acer truncatum is a deciduous tree, 8-10m tall. The bark is gray-brown or dark brown with deep longitudinal cracks; the twigs are glabrous, the current year's branches are green, and the perennial branches are gray-brown; the winter buds are small, oval, and the scales are sharp. Leaves opposite; petiole 3-5cm long, glabrous; leaves papery, 5-10cm long, 8-12cm wide, often 5-lobed, rarely 7-lobed, base truncate, rarely nearly cordate; lobes triangular, notched at acute angles between lobes, margins entire, 3-5cm long, 1.5-2cm wide, sometimes the upper part of the central lobe is 3-lobed; dark green above, glabrous, light green below, vein axils covered with tufts of hairs when young; 5 main veins, palmate. The flowers are yellow-green, polygamous, with male and bisexual flowers on the same plant; 5 sepals, yellow-green; 5 petals, yellow or white, oblong-obovate; 8 stamens, inserted on the inner edge of the disk, anthers yellow, filaments glabrous; disk slightly fissured; ovary flat, glabrous, style short, 2-lobed, stigma recurved, slightly curved. The nutlets are flat, with oblong wings that are often as long as the fruit and open at acute or obtuse angles. The flowering period is April and the fruiting period is August.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in sparse forests at an altitude of 400-1000m.
