[Original form] Thunder God orange is a vine or shrub, 3-6m tall, with new branches densely covered with rusty short hairs, branches with small outward-curving thorns, and many thorns on the stems. The leaves are membranous when young, densely covered with rusty short hairs, leathery or sub-leathery when old, glabrous, oblong-lanceolate, 4-13cm long, 2-6cm wide, with a cuneate or broad cuneate base, gradually narrowing downward to form a petiole, the apex is often constricted and gradually pointed, with the tip about 1cm long; there are 5-7 pairs of lateral veins, both sides are convex, and the reticulate veins are obvious. The buds are spherical, densely covered with rusty short hairs that are easy to fall off; 2-5 flowers are arranged in a short vertical row, born in the axils, with the pedicels about 1-1.8cm long from bottom to top; the calyx is nearly equal, broadly ovate, with an acute tip, 5-6mm long, about 3mm wide, covered with short hairs inside and outside, then becoming glabrous, with ciliated edges; the petals are white, obovate, 7-10mm long, 2.5-3mm wide; the ovary is ovate, about 1mm long, 1-chambered, with 2 placentas, each with about 5-6 ovules. The fruit is spherical, 8-15mm in diameter, black or purple-black when ripe, with a rough surface; there are 1-5 seeds, with a smooth, brown seed coat, 5-7mm long, 4-5mm wide, and 3-4mm high. The flowering period is from January to April, and the fruiting period is from May to August.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in rocky mountain thickets or sparse forests.

【Functions and indications】Promote blood circulation and activate collaterals; reduce swelling and relieve pain. Mainly used for rheumatic joint pain, swelling and pain caused by falls, sprains, stomachache, and abdominal pain

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 3-9g; or soak in wine and drink. For external use: apply appropriate amount, soaked in wine.
