[Source] It is a plant of the Verbenaceae family, Caryopteris incana (Thunb.) Miq., the whole herb or root is used as medicine. The whole herb can be harvested throughout the year. The roots are dug up in autumn, washed and used fresh or dried in the shade, and cut into sections.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy, warm.

[Functions and indications] Soothe wind and relieve exterior symptoms, eliminate phlegm and relieve cough, disperse blood stasis and relieve pain. Used for upper respiratory tract infection, whooping cough, bronchitis, rheumatic joint pain, gastroenteritis, swelling and pain caused by falls, abdominal pain caused by postpartum congestion; used externally to treat snake bites, eczema, and skin itching.

[Usage and Dosage] 0.5-1 liang; for external use, mash the fresh product and apply to the affected area.
