[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 5 to 6 qian; or stir-fry and eat.

[Clinical Application] Treatment of malignant tumors: In Fujian Province, the total bioalkaloids of Cephalotaxus fortunei are extracted from leafy twigs of Cephalotaxus fortunei and made into an injection (each 2 ml is equivalent to 40-50 mg of total bioalkaloids). In clinical application, the quantitative standard is calculated based on cephalotaxine, about 2 mg per kilogram of body weight per day, divided into two intramuscular injections. One course of treatment is 15 to 20 days, and rest is about 10 days. If there are no significant side effects, another course of treatment is given. A total of 47 cases of 14 malignant tumors (such as lymphosarcoma, esophageal and cardiac cancer, gastric cancer, lung cancer, etc.) were treated. Preliminary results showed that 20 cases of 9 types of tumors showed short-term therapeutic effects, including 5 cases with remarkable effects (symptoms were significantly alleviated, and the tumor was reduced by more than 1/2 of its original diameter). The effect was particularly prominent in lymphosarcoma. According to clinical observations, the effects can generally be seen in effective cases 7 to 10 days after medication. For cases that are ineffective after 2 to 3 weeks of medication, the effects will not be satisfactory even if the medication is continued. For effective or markedly effective cases, intermittent medication is still required after several courses of treatment to prevent relapse. As for the long-term efficacy, further observation and summary are needed. During the medication process, most patients experience pain at the injection site, formation of nodules, a decrease in white blood cell and platelet count, or dizziness, nausea, dry mouth, fatigue, weakness, poor sleep, irritability, constipation, loss of appetite, etc. In some cases, myocardial insufficiency may occur. Generally, the patient can gradually recover after stopping the medication for about 6 days or cooperating with symptomatic treatment of Chinese and Western medicine. In Guangzhou, the extracted crude torreya grandis crystals are used to make injections. The minimum daily dose for adults is 20 mg, the maximum is 280 mg, and most of them are 100-200 mg. When used, dilute with physiological saline or 5% glucose injection, and then slowly push or drip directly into the vein. 34 cases of lymphosarcoma, lymphoreticular cell tumor, primary liver cancer, choriocarcinoma, malignant hydatidiform mole, etc. were treated, with 1 case having special effect (subjective symptoms disappeared, tumor basically disappeared) and 5 cases having remarkable effect (same standard as before). The minimum total dosage is 1100 mg and the maximum is 8620 mg, and most are 3000 to 4000 mg. Generally, the medication begins to take effect after taking 1000-2000 mg, and the total dose should be 4000-5000 mg. During the medication process, no changes in blood count, liver and kidney function damage, or gastrointestinal reactions were observed in any of the cases. Only one case experienced shortness of breath, dyspnea, back and abdominal pain, cyanosis of the lips, dilation of capillaries in the limbs, and purpura on the skin during a single medication (the total amount reached more than 2,600 mg). The symptoms disappeared about 1 hour after symptomatic treatment.
