[Original form] Black Saxifrage is a perennial herb, 7-23cm tall. The rhizome is very short. Leaves are basal; petioles are 1-2 cm long; leaf blades are ovate or broadly ovate, 1.2-2.5 cm long, 0.8-1.8 cm wide, with acute or slightly obtuse apex, nearly glabrous on both sides, and margins with crenate serrations and eyelashes. The pedicels are 1 or several in clusters, sparsely covered with white curly pubescence; the cymes are conical or racemose, 3-9cm long, with 7-25 flowers; the pedicels are pubescent; the sepals are ovate or triangular-ovate, with acute or slightly acuminate apex, recurved at anthesis, and 3-7 veins merged into a wart at the apex; the petals are white, ovate to elliptic, obtuse or slightly concave at the apex, and narrowed into claws at the base; the stamens are 3-5.9mm long, the filaments are awl-shaped, and the anthers are black-purple; there are 2 carpels, most of which are connate, black-purple, the ovary is broadly ovoid, and there are 2 styles. Flowering period is July-August.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in alpine meadows or rock crevices at an altitude of 3000-3800m.
