[Original form] Subshrubby herb, up to 1 meter tall. The stems are relatively thick and covered with short, coarse hairs. The odd-pinnate compound leaves are alternate, with 3 to 5 leaflets, rarely 7; the leaflets are oblong, ovate-lanceolate or elliptic, 5 to 10 cm long, 2 to 4 cm wide, with pointed apex, rounded or slightly cordate base, glabrous above or slightly hairy at the midrib, short hairy beneath; the stipules are needle-shaped, about 2 mm long. The raceme is terminal, with densely packed flowers, up to 30 cm long; the bracts are lanceolate, broad at the base, with long eyelashes on the edges that fall off, and each bract has 2 flowers; the calyx is shallowly cup-shaped, 5-lobed, with the upper 2 lobes having short teeth and the lower 3 lobes having usually elongated teeth, all covered with long hairs; the corolla is purple, 7 to 8 mm long; there are 10 stamens, 2 in number; the ovary is superior, and the style is linear. The pods have 3 to 7 nodes and are covered with very short hairs. Flowering period is from May to June. Fruiting period is from July to October.

[Habitat distribution] Growing on hillsides, wastelands, edges of bushes or in weeds. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Yunnan and other places.
