Eat mooncakes as a main meal?

The truth: This practice is not advisable. The correct way is to cut the mooncakes into small pieces and eat them as snacks in small amounts.

Moon cakes are high in energy, sugar and oil, and eating too much can easily cause gastrointestinal discomfort. In addition to sugar and oil, they are relatively lacking in protein and vitamins . Such food cannot replace regular meals to meet our nutritional needs.

Can I eat sugar-free mooncakes as much as I want?

The truth: In fact, sugar-free mooncakes simply do not contain added sugar (such as sucrose) . During the production process, low-energy non-sugar sweeteners such as maltitol, sorbitol, xylitol, etc. are generally used to replace sucrose.

The truth: The health benefits of these mooncakes are just marketing gimmicks.

The truth: This is not a wise choice.

The starch content is the highest among the raw materials of mooncakes. After baking and ripening, the starch becomes soft and delicate in taste. However, at low temperatures, the ripened starch will precipitate water and become aged, making the mooncakes hard and taste worse. Mooncakes with less oil and less water will not only harden quickly after being refrigerated, but also easily moldy.

The high oil and sugar content of mooncakes has relatively extended their shelf life. Mooncakes within their shelf life can be stored at room temperature in a cool, ventilated and dry place.
