[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome of Iris uniflora, a plant of the Iridaceae family.

[Original form] Perennial dwarf herb, 15-40cm tall. The base of the plant is surrounded by yellow-brown residual fibers of old leaves and membranous sheath leaves. The rhizome is slender, dichotomously branched, slightly swollen at the nodes, and brown in color. The fibrous roots are thin and grow at the nodes. The leaves are linear or lanceolate, 5-20cm long and 0.4-1cm wide during flowering, 30-40cm long during fruiting, gradually pointed at the apex and sheath-like at the base. The flower stem is slender, with a cauline leaf in the middle and lower part; there are 2 bracts, each containing 1 flower; the flower is blue-purple, 4-4.5cm in diameter, the outer perianth lobes are narrowly oblanceolate, and the inner perianth lobes are linear or narrowly lanceolate; there are 3 stamens, about 1.5cm long; the style branches are flat and equal in length to the inner perianth lobes; the ovary is about 5mm long. The capsule is spherical, 0.8-1cm in diameter, with 6 obvious edges. The flowering period is May-June, and the fruiting period is July-August.
