[Other names] Yangxincao, Daoshanheidou (Fujian Folk Herbs), Panax notoginseng, Panax notoginseng, Panax notoginseng (Hunan Materia Medica), Seven Leaf Clover (Mindong Materia Medica), Yanhaidouqi, Huishengcao (Fujian Chinese Herbal Medicine), Blood Grass (Fujian Jinjiang Chinese Herbal Medicine Handbook).

[Source] The whole herb or root of the Crassulaceae plant . Harvested in summer and autumn, used fresh or sun-dried.

[Original form] Perennial succulent herb. Rhizome thick and woody. The stem is erect, 15 to 40 cm high, cylindrical and glabrous. The leaves are alternate, obovate or oblong, 2.5-5 cm long, 5-12 mm wide, widest above the middle, slightly rounded at the tip, cuneate at the base, with teeth on the margin near the tip, and almost sessile. The inflorescence is terminal and loose; there are 5 sepals, lanceolate, obtuse; 5 petals, orange-yellow, lanceolate, acute; 10 stamens, almost as long as the petals; small scales; 5 pistils, free, slightly longer than the stamens. The follicles are star-shaped and reddish or brown. Seeds obovate, brown. Flowering period is summer.

[Habitat distribution] Growing on mountain rocks or river slopes. Distributed in northern and central my country.

【Nature and flavor】 Sour, flat.

[Meridian] "Mindong Materia Medica": "Enters the heart, liver, and spleen meridians."

【Functions and indications】Promote blood circulation, stop bleeding, calm the mind, promote dampness removal, reduce swelling, and detoxify. Treat injuries from falls, coughing up blood, vomiting blood, bloody stools, palpitations, and carbuncles.

[Usage and Dosage] For internal use: decoct in water, 1.5-3 qian (1-2 liang for fresh ones); for external use: mash and apply.

【Note】 "Mindong Materia Medica" states: "People with weak stomach and loose stools should avoid using this medicine."

[Additional prescription] ① Treating injuries from falls: ㈠ 2 liang of whole fresh radish herb (3 to 4 qian of root). Boil water and remove the residue, then mix with sweet wine and drink; 2. Take appropriate amount of fresh vegetable stems and leaves. Chop it into pieces, mash it, add a little wine lees, and apply it to the affected area. (Jiangxi "Handbook of Herbs")
