Simple leaves are alternate; with yellow translucent glandular dots, stinking; petiole is grooved, sparsely covered with white hairs or glabrous; leaf blade is rhombic-ovate to ovate-elliptic, 3-17 cm long, 2-9 cm wide, acuminate or with obtuse tip, base broadly cuneate, entire, or with fine obtuse serrations. The flowers are unisexual, dioecious, and yellow-green; the male inflorescence is racemose, laterally grown at the base of new branches, with scattered white hairs on the rachis and pedicel; there is an ovate bract at the base of the pedicel; there are 2 opposite ovate bracteoles at the base of the calyx tube, 4 sepals, ovate, fused at the base, with hairy edges, 4 petals, 4 stamens, alternate with the petals; the female flower is solitary, with 4 reduced stamens, superior ovary, 4 carpels, short style, and 4-lobed stigma. Capsule, 2-valved. Seeds black, nearly spherical. Flowering period is March.
