[Source] Medicinal material source: the root or leaf of the Alumuaceae plant Alumuaceae.

【Original form】 Small tree. The buds, young branches, back sides of young leaves, veins, and inflorescences are all covered with yellow-brown soft hairs; the twigs are slender, dark brown, and hairless. Leaves are alternate; petiole is about 5mm long; leaf blade is papery or nearly membranous, sometimes reddish brown when dry, ovate to broadly lanceolate, 3-6 (-9) cm long, 1.5-2.5 (-3.5) cm wide, apex caudate-acuminate, base broadly cuneate or slightly rounded, margin with sparse shallow obtuse serrations; midrib is flat on leaf surface, lateral veins are slender, 6-9 on each side. The spike inflorescence is 1-4cm long; the bracts are elliptic-ovate, about 2mm long, the bracteoles are triangular-broad-ovate, about 1.5mm long and up to 2mm wide, all covered with short soft hairs on the back and with marginal hairs; the calyx is 1.6-2mm long, 5-lobed, the lobes are ovate, the apex is rounded, the back is covered with fine soft hairs, the same length as the calyx tube or slightly longer than the calyx tube, and the calyx tube is glabrous; the corolla is light yellow, 5-lobed almost to the base, the lobes are elliptic, 2.5-4mm long; there are about 25 stamens, and the filaments are slightly fused at the base; the ovary is 3-chambered, and the disk is glabrous. The drupe is nearly spherical, about 4mm in diameter, with erect persistent calyx lobes at the tip. The flowering period is from March to November. The fruiting period is from June to December; it blooms and bears fruit at the same time.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in forests below 1200m above sea level.

[Chemical composition] The leaves contain pholorizin, a dihydrochalcone inulin glycoside, with a content of about 0.6% [1].

【Functions and indications】Hemostasis and tissue regeneration; harmonizing the liver and strengthening the spleen. Mainly used for traumatic bleeding; hematemesis; hemoptysis; furuncle; malnutrition; conjunctivitis

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 30-60g. For external use: take appropriate amount, crush the fresh product and apply; or grind the dry product into powder and apply.
