[Source] Medicinal material source: the rhizome or whole herb of the Gymnospermaceae plant Gymnospermaceae.

【Original morphology】Plant height 8-22cm. The rhizome grows horizontally, and together with the base of the petiole, is densely covered with rust-red, linear-lanceolate scales and white soft hairs. Leaves are nearly tufted; petioles are wire-like, hard, 5-10cm long, chestnut, densely covered with light brown long soft hairs from base upwards; leaf blades are thickly papery, lanceolate, 5-15cm long, 1.5-4cm wide, with the tip pinnae being the largest, up to 3cm long, and once pinnate; pinnae are 3-11 pairs, alternate, ovate or oblong, heart-shaped at the base, asymmetrical, sometimes with small ear-like protrusions, obtuse at the apex, short-stalked at the base, entire, dark green on the surface, sparsely covered with soft hairs, and densely covered with rusty soft hairs on the back. The sori are linear, borne along the lateral veins and hidden in the soft hairs; there is no sori cover.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown on dry rocks on hillsides at an altitude of 900-2000m.

[Properties] Identification by properties: The rhizome has dense rusty yellow narrow lanceolate long scales. The petiole is chestnut brown and has soft hairs all the way up to the petiole. The leaves are thick papery, 5-15cm long, 1.5-4cm wide, odd-pinnate, with deeply cordate base of pinnae, sometimes with 1-2 auricles, long brown hairs on both sides, lateral veins multiply forked, veinlets separated, or occasionally connected into narrow meshes near the leaf edge. The sori are borne along the lateral veins and are covered with soft hairs. It has a faint smell and a bitter taste.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter; Cold

【Functions and indications】Detoxification; drying dampness and relieving itching. It is mainly used to treat wind poison sores and itching; eczema; leucorrhea

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, rhizome 9-15g. For external use: Take appropriate amount of the whole herb and decoct it in water for washing.
