[Original form] 1. Deciduous tree, up to 40m high. The bark is dark brown and cracked longitudinally. Leaves are alternate; petioles are 4-8cm long; stipules and petioles are separate; leaf blades are mandarin-shaped, 4-18cm long, 2.5-20cm wide, truncate or slightly concave at the apex, rounded or shallowly cordate at the base, with a pair of lateral lobes near the base. The flowers are solitary at the top of the branches, cup-shaped, with 9 nearly equal perianth petals, the outer 3 petals are green, sepal-shaped, spreading, the inner two petals are 6, upright, green on the outside with yellow vertical stripes; there are many stamens, densely stacked on a spindle-shaped central column. The aggregate fruit is ovate-conical, with the tip of the nutlet extending into wings, which are 2-3 cm long including the wings. Seeds 1-2. The flowering period is May, and the fruiting period is September-October.
