[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of Ardisia caudatum of the Myrsinaceae family.

【Original form】 Shrub, 0.5-1m high. The branches are slender and slightly pubescent. Except for the special lateral flower branches, they are unbranched or only branched from the base. The leaves are alternate; the petiole is 5-8mm long; the leaf blade is membranous, oblong or elliptic-lanceolate, with a caudate-acuminate tip, a cuneate or obtuse base, 6-13cm long, 2-3cm wide, with wrinkled shallow crenates or crenates on the margin, with marginal glandular dots, and the back is covered with inconspicuous sparse scales; there are about 8 pairs of lateral veins, which are not connected to form marginal veins. Compound sub-cymes or umbels, borne at the top of lateral special flower branches, pubescent; flower branches with 3-4 leaves near the top; pedicels 7-12mm long, pubescent; calyx fused only at the base, fused part pubescent, sepals ovate, about 3mm long, with glandular dots; petals pink, broadly ovate, 6-8mm long, with glandular dots; stamens are 2/3 the length of petals, anthers ovate, with sparse glandular dots on the back; pistil is equal to or slightly longer than petals. The fruit is spherical, about 6mm in diameter, red, with glandular dots, and the fruit stalk is sometimes up to 2cm long. The flowering period is from May to July, and the fruiting period is from November to December.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in valleys and hillsides at an altitude of 1000-2200m, in the shade and wet places under sparse and dense forests.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter; pungent; cold

【Functions and indications】Relieve rheumatism; relieve heat and toxicity; relieve pain. It is mainly used for rheumatic pain, sore throat, toothache, stomachache, fracture, and lymphadenopathy.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 9-20g; or soak in wine. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash fresh product for application. .
