[Source] Medicinal material source: The leaves of Eucommia ulmoides and Eucommia ulmoides vine, plants of the Apocynaceae family.

[Original form] 1. A thick, woody climbing vine. The branches have inconspicuous lenticels and are latex-containing. Except for the corolla, the whole plant is glabrous. Leaves are opposite; petiole is 1-1.5cm long, with fine hairs; leaf blade is elliptical or ovate-elliptical, 5-8cm long, 1.5-3cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex and acute at the base. The inflorescence is racemose, terminal and axillary, with small, densely packed, water-red flowers; the calyx is deeply lobed into 5 parts, with few or no glands at the inner base, and the lobes are lanceolate; the corolla is white or pink, urn-shaped, and the lobes are folded inward in the bud; there are 5 stamens, inserted at the base of the corolla tube, the anthers are arrow-shaped, and the filaments are short; the disk is annular; the ovary is pubescent, the style is short, and the stigma is conical. The base of the follicle is swollen, gradually narrowing towards the tip into a long beak-like shape. The seeds are up to 2 cm long; the seed hairs are about 4 cm long; silky white. The flowering period is from March to June, and the fruiting period is from July to December.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: 1. Growing in valleys, sparse or dense forests, bushes, waterside, etc. at an altitude of 300-800m.
