[Source] Medicinal material source: The root bark of Carpinus multiveinata of the Betulaceae family.

[Original form] Deciduous small tree or shrub, 5-8m tall. The twigs are initially covered with grayish white soft hairs, then become glabrous and purple-brown. Simple leaves are alternate; petiole is about 1cm long; leaf blade is ovate-lanceolate or elliptic-lanceolate, 4-7cm long, 2.5-4cm wide, apex acuminate to caudate-acuminate, base obtuse to rounded, sometimes nearly cordate, margin with thorn-like double serrations, with 1-2 veinless small teeth in between, glabrous on both sides when old; lateral veins 15-20 pairs. The infructescence is 5-8cm long and sparsely hairy; the fruit bract is ovate-lanceolate, 1-1.5cm long and about 5mm wide, with a straight or slightly involute inner base and finely notched serrations on the outer edge. The inner surface is glabrous and the outer surface is covered with long soft hairs along the main vein and base. The nutlets are ovate, slightly flat, nearly equal in length and width, 2-3mm, and sparsely covered with short soft hairs.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in rocky mountain jungles at an altitude of 700-1500m.
