The pedicel is woolly with awl-shaped bracts; the capitula is solitary at the top of the pedicel, 2.5-3cm in diameter; the involucre is conical-bell-shaped, about 2cm long; the involucral bracts are multi-layered, leathery, pink-purple at the edges and upper part, the outer layer is smaller and awl-shaped, the inner layer is larger, lanceolate, and acute at the apex; the marginal flowers are about 2cm long, the tongue is nearly as long as the tube, white to pink, and female; the disc flowers are tubular, about 1.3cm long, and bisexual. Achenes have beaks and are covered with hairs; the pappus is about 1.2 cm long, dirty white, and rough-haired. The flowering period is February-April.
