[Original morphology] Hairy arm grass is an annual herb. The fibrous roots are thin and weak. The culm is 10-40cm high, with an inclined base, and the whole plant is densely covered with soft hairs, especially at the sheath mouth and edges. The ligule is short, with cilia about 1 mm long; the leaf blade is ovate-acicular, 1-4 cm long, 3-10 mm wide, densely pubescent on both sides, with an acute tip, wavy edges, and a blunt base. The panicle is composed of 4-8 racemes; the raceme is 1-3cm long; the main axis and the rachis are densely pubescent; the spikelets are ovate, pointed at the apex, about 2.5mm long, pubescent or almost glabrous, the spikelet stalk is 0.5-1mm long and hairy; the first glume is half the length of the spikelet, with 3 veins, the back facing the rachis, the second glume is slightly shorter than the spikelet, with 5 veins; the first lemma is as long as the spikelet, with 5 veins, the palea is membranous and narrow, the second lemma is leathery, slightly wrapped around the palea, with transverse fine wrinkles; the scales are 2. Membranous, folded; the stylopodium is separate. The grains are oval and about 2 mm long. Flowering and fruiting period is from July to October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in fields and hillside grasslands.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet, light; slightly cold

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and promotes diuresis; laxative. Mainly used for red and astringent urine and constipation

[Usage and Dosage] For oral administration: decoction, 15-30g; fresh product 30-90g.
