[Original form] Deciduous tree, 5 to 10 meters high. The bark is grayish white, the branches are round and club-shaped, brown or grayish brown, and have soft hairs when young. Simple leaves are alternate; ovate, 4 to 5 cm long, pointed at the apex, cordate at the base, with two prominent glands, and wavy edges. The upper side is dark green and hairless, the lower side is light green, with fine gray hairs when young, which fall off when old; the petiole is 3 to 4 cm long. Flowers are unisexual and dioecious; soft yellow inflorescences are axillary. Capsule ellipsoid, glabrous.

[Habitat distribution] Growing in sparse woods on sunny hillsides. Distributed in Yunnan and other places.

【Nature and flavor】 Astringent, slightly bitter, cool.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies, reduces inflammation, promotes diuresis and kills insects. Treat nephritis, colds, ascariasis, and toothache.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 1 to 2 qian. For external use: Place a piece of fresh bark on the toothache.
