[Original form]

1. Drosera is a perennial herb. Erect or sometimes climbing, 9-32cm tall, with purple-red juice. The bulbous corm is purple and about 6mm in diameter. The basal leaves are densely packed into nearly one whorl or the uppermost leaves are borne on the elongated stems at the internodes; the degenerated basal leaves are linear-subulate, about 2mm long; the non-degenerated basal leaves are round or oblate, withering when flowering; the stem leaves are alternate, peltate, half-moon or semicircular, 2-3mm long, with many capitate glandular hairs on the edges or leaves, secreting mucus, forming dewdrops. Spirocymes grow at the top of branches and stems; bracts cuneate or oblanceolate, with 3-22 flowers; 5-7 flowers, sparsely or densely covered with long glandular hairs on the back, with long glandular hairs on the margin; 5 petals, cuneate, white, pink or red, longer than sepals and with colored longitudinal stripes; 5 stamens, about 5mm long; single pistil, superior ovary, 1-chambered, 3-5 flowering branches. The fruit is 2-4 mm long and has 2-4 locules. The seeds are small, oval, and the veins of the seed coat are thickened into a honeycomb shape. Flowering and fruiting period is from June to September.

【Habitat distribution】

Ecological environment: 1. Grown under pine forests, in grass or beside streams in wet areas on hillsides at an altitude of 1200-3650m.

【Properties】

Identification of properties: The corm is an irregular spherical shape with a diameter of 3-8mm. The surface is brown-black, rough, shrunken, and has irregular wrinkles. There is a sunken stem mark on the top and a root mark on the bottom. Some have residual light brown-black scale leaves. It is light and hard, with a cut surface that is yellow, light brown-red to light brown, powdery, and has small bright spots when observed under a magnifying glass. Slight smell, slightly astringent taste.

【Nature and flavor】

Sweet; slightly bitter; neutral; slightly toxic

【Meridian】

Lung; Liver; Stomach Meridian

【Function and indications】

Dispel wind and dampness; promote blood circulation and relieve pain; disperse stagnation and detoxify. It is used to treat muscle and bone pain, back pain, migraine, traumatic injury, malaria, scrofula, swelling, red eyes, cataract, scabies; it can also be used for tetanus, pneumonia and cold in children.

【Usage and Dosage】

For internal use: grind into powder; or grind into juice; or soak in wine. For external use: Take appropriate amount, mash and apply to the affected area or acupuncture points as a foaming agent.

【Notice】

Pregnant women should not take it. Overdose may cause dizziness and drowsiness.
