[Original form] Sesame, a slender unbranched herb, 15-40cm tall. The stem is nearly erect, quadrangular, with four grooves and fine stripes, densely covered with fine soft hairs at first, and then becomes glabrous. The leaves have long petioles, 1.5-5cm long, gradually shortening upwards; the leaf blades are cordate, sometimes ovate, the lower ones are reniform, usually 2.5-5cm wide, obtuse or acute at the apex, cordate at the base or nearly truncated. The side rafters have coarse round teeth except at the base, sometimes with small teeth and large round teeth interlaced, and both sides are sparsely covered with white, appressed rough hairs, with about 3 pairs of lateral veins. The cyme has 2-6 flowers, with stalks, arranged in a loose racemose panicle 4-10cm long at the top of the stem; bracts ovate-oblong, bracteoles linear; calyx tubular in flowering, about 4mm long, 2.5mm wide, pubescent on the outside, with a hair ring at the throat on the inside, 15-veined, two-lipped, with large middle teeth in the upper lip, small lateral teeth, and 2 long teeth in the lower lip. The calyx enlarges when fruiting; corolla white, with a narrow corolla tube extending out of the calyx, upper lip 2-lobed, lobes round, lower lip 3-lobed, middle lobe larger, round, slightly concave, with beards near the center of the outside, and lateral lobes shorter and oval. The nutlets are triangular-ovate. The flowering period is June and the fruiting period is July.
