[Source] Medicinal material source: the stem pith or whole herb of Juncus effusus of the Juncaceae family.

[Original form] Juncus effusus is a perennial swamp herb, 30-70cm tall. Has rhizomes. The stems are clustered and have nodes. The leaf sheath is cylindrical, loosely clasping the stem, and the leaves are slender and cylindrical, 10-20 cm long, 2-3 mm thick, hollow, and have obvious diaphragms. Terminal compound cyme; 3-8 flowers clustered, 6 tepals, linear-acicular, 3.5mm long; 3 stamens, about half the length of the tepals, anthers twice as long as filaments. Capsule is triangular-conical, about 4 mm long. The seeds are oval in shape with a small pointed tip. Flowering and fruiting period is May-June.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows in ditches and ponds.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocting in water, 0.9-3g of stem pith, 9-15g of whole herb.
